Thanks guys: it's always nice to have people asking for you. It's true that the finished models I'd posted were lost in the server crash. I'll try and upload some again a bit later.

    Re: Every man his Jug

I'm trying to draw a P-47 with (what seems to me) an unusual tank:

Has anybody ever seen one like this? Could it be a variation if the 200 gallon paper tank? It doesn't seem logical because paper tanks had a short lifespan, and the picture seems to show a non-droppable tank...

Any help would be very welcome...

There are so many combinations of drop tanks and Thunderbolts, that I long ago decided that I would only ever show mine carrying bombs. That and the fact that I haven't been able to draw one worth a damn.

It looks like a shorter version of the 200-gallon flat tank, which was steel.

Here are few pics that i found. The way they are attached under belly could be similar to yours?

    Thanks, Heinz!

These do look similar. I still don't know what they are exactly, but this will be helpful. The only pictures I had so far were quite blurry and lacked details.

    Re: Every man his Jug

For me it looks like a flat belly tank in your picture. They had different sizes though can't remember exactly? Which means it's close to the first picture in my post, because in the second picture i posted it looks more like a 75 gallon wing tank.

Have you tried to play around with filters or adjusting levels/curves in your reference pictures to get more out of those?

    Re: Every man his Jug

I agree with you that the tanks look slightly different. "Mine" is probably a modified 200 gal flat tank, but I'm not sure the other one is a 75 gal tank. It looks quite big, and its ground clearance is about the same as the first one. The shape is similar to the 75 gal tanks, but surely it contains more than 75 gals of fuel?

I've found threads in various forums about these tanks, but nothing conclusive. Nobody really seems to know for sure.

As for playing with the image: no, I haven't for the moment. I'll try it when I get back to it. I've drawn a "placeholder" tank on the profile, although I might change it later when I get more conclusive material.
