Isn't it harder to get global highlights consistent this way? Interesting but I wonder if it really makes things easier![]()
I'm working on a Piper Cub for the French Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. I hate apparent engines!!!!!!! Why couldn' t they just put a nice flat cowling on that Continental!
Anyway, I'm testing a new technique, or rather workflow: I'm doing the aircraft piece by piece instead of my usual "layer by layer" approach.
Here the first step:
There is still stuff to do on that nose part but I'm taking a break for the moment.
been telling you to do it that way for ages,
nice work so far![]()

Probably not. However, I'm trying it here because the Cub's shape is relatively simple and breaks down into large sections so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. The only hard thing so far was to recreate all of the engine parts, but I'm relatively happy with the results.Interesting but I wonder if it really makes things easier
Yellow airplanes are fun to draw IMO.
Thanks, Ugo!
Here's another update:
It's beginning to look like the real bird now. I corrected the nose, which was too round. This should be closer to reality.
It's a nice little airplane. Hopefully, the owner will let me play with it.![]()
Aaaaaaaaargh... Propeller day is over! I am pretty bad at propellers and I usually avoid them when I can (not that I'm the only one). My only consolation is that even the best artists usually get them wrong.
Anyway, I had to draw two sets of props today. Now I'll go watch something very stupid on TV to relax my brains a bit:
