    Zlin 526F

My first profile attempt. Still a work in progress. It started in Flash but the program has many limitations such as exporting a large file size. I may move it over to Illustrator to finish but i'm not very proficient in Illustrator.

This is a friends plane so I really have unlimited access to getting details. All the stenciling and logos were traced in Flash from photos I took and then individually imported into the drawing.

Maybe ill start from scratch and try it in Photoshop.

Yep I'd lose Flash if I was you meierba. You've done well to get it that far in Flash actually. If you can get hold of Illustrator use that instead. Then move it into Photoshop for the shading colouring. Looking nice so far, keep at it.

Pretty amazing results using Flash. Now, if you can do that with Flash....imagine what you can accomplish with Photoshop. Lot's of people here to help you make the transition. Welcome aboard my friend!

    Welcome Meierba!

That looks really sweet. Well done. I don't know anything about Flash, but if you do make the transition to Illustrator and Photoshop you will find many eager hands here to help you on your way.

    I hope you do!

Just skip straight past Illustrator and go directly to Photoshop. Its what I did.*

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Ive been searching through the forums the past few months and learned a few things plus found a lot of good profiles posted by you guys. Very nice.

Im working on finding a good 24" or so monitor and wacom tablet. Already have Illustrator and Photoshop.. just not very familiar with them. Can anyone recommend a good monitor in the $200-250 range?

It may be a while but Ill be sure to post updates as I convert this over from Flash.

    Re: Zlin 526F

Well I found a steal on a Samsung 23" LED. So that's where I'm at.

Grubby, I'm able to convert from flash to illustrator no problem.. but of course will need a little cleaning. After that I will move into photoshop. I have read through the tutorials on your site and found them to be very helpful.

One other question, when working in photoshop which color settings are you guys working with? I plan on doing profiles for print use so im guessing CMYK. Which "working spaces" settings should be used? Id like to get everything setup before I get too far and have to backtrack.

Also I'm doing all this on a HP HDX16 laptop. The screen on the laptop doesnt match the new samsung.. and im sure it wouldnt match my prints. whats the best way to get all this synced? Im not even sure I can adjust settings on the laptop display. I guess all I truly need is for the 23" samsung to match prints.

Thanks for the help. After I get the Illustrator drawing completed Ill post it for everyone to use. Also have some great detailed drawings on the Zlin 526A and AS models that I modified for this project..

    Re: Zlin 526F

Well I havent had much time to work on this. I managed to export a 4500px wide version from Flash.. which is about the limit. From there I imported it into Photoshop to add a few details. Of course I lost all my layers and was working with a jpg. I can definitely see how working in Illustrator is going to be a big help.

Id like to get rid of the outline and maybe get the panel lines a bit more realistic. My main problem is getting any kind of depth out of the white areas. I like how the aft fuselage is looking but what do you guys suggest for the cowling and nose area?

    Thanks
    Brad
