Think through it Gammy. How can mud splash on the rudder once the tailplane rises above ground level? The wheels follow shortly thereafter, so the splashing occurs while the tail skid is still plowing ground.

Must have expressed myself wrongly.Think through it Gammy. How can mud splash on the rudder once the tailplane rises above ground level? The wheels follow shortly thereafter, so the splashing occurs while the tail skid is still plowing ground. That's precisely what I mean.
As a result shouldn't streaks of mud point in the direction of the tail skid rather than be parallel to the line of flight? Might be the smaller image provoking this, however... Jesters?![]()

Sorry guys, I will post close ups as soon as I get around to it.
Gaetan, you are spot on about the mud, there are 2 sets on the rudder, on set for tail up, one for tail down, but the thumb does not show it too well.
Now for something different . . .
I wanted to see if I could recycle a template with a quick turn around and make it work.
Here is the results of 2 days work. I think I have my answer.

you did not bother to reduce the red then![]()

Hi Jester,
Beautiful work, mate.
I wouldn't be too worried about direction of mud spatter. By the time you take into consideration prop-wash, ground speed, mud consistency etc, the damn stuff goes in every direction! Just look at a rally car after a stage.
I never realised just how SMALL these things are!
Grubby.
Speaking of General MUDshouldnt it be slightly also on wheels? and possibly small bits and pieces on fuselage?
"Who's flying with Kesler?"
"Brown . . . new guy"
"I'll get him when he gets down . . "
Sorry guys it just had to be done, things like this from my childhood cant be passed up, Otter knows what I am going through . . . .
Any detail shots of the nose would be very much appreciated.
REALLY NICE! You got the blue nailed down!
Details of this plane or Camel noses in general?
Kesler? Don't you mean Udet?![]()
FAST AND BULBOUS!
