I think Inkworms might be right on the font change for "company Ltd". Looking at some of the blobby B/W photographs, it could be either of the fonts on the samples put forward so far.
Thanks Inkworm, I would very much like a copy of that one you have shown there, Snipe or not it could be the one that is correct . . . who knows what the guys were thinking of at Sopwith when they were putting this one together. (Lets use lots of fonts and not line anything up)

Inkworm gets the prize, here are several sopwith products, the fonts are all the same, and as a bonus a big round one for you

Those photos all seem to have small variations in type. Notice the L in LTD and it's size compared to the TD part.
I think that scan from the book is the same one I used and cleaned up
