Thanks very much for your kind replies!
Baron, Supah is right. I portrayed this aircraft in the state it was when it was shipped to the USA in 1946. It had been 'laying about' for a number of months and looked pretty beaten up.
It's a bit similar to live bombs, which often look really weathered when first hung on an aircraft (and needless to say they are rarely used twice!).
Ugo, that comment coming from you means a lot! Thanks!
I am using Mental Ray.
Hehe indeed the colour differences are intentional. They mark a difference in paint used on metal (fuselage) versus wooden parts (flying surfaces). If I am not mistaken the same pigment was used, but the composition of the paint was different for each material, resulting in colour variations.
Having badly underquoted on this job, I guess I was the one who paid the price in sheer man hours!
However it was a good exercise and I did more 2.5D profile since, which went a lot faster. Admittedly some where a good bit easier, like this one, also for the Japanese Secret Projects book. This missile profile took only 2.5 hours from start to finish. I suppose it could have been more detailed, but since reference material on this missile was close to nil I didn't want to 'invent' stuff.
Thanks again guys! I am very glad the Oka 22 profile is so well received. There's some serious talent on this forum, so it means a lot to me!
