I won't repeat what Jester taught me during my visit the other day but it wasn't profile related
You'll probably find there are plenty of different methods to drawing either WWII stuff or F-104s if you fancy something different.
Before getting on with serious profiling it is worth learning the basics of the graphics software, then what to use, if you go down the 3d route there are quite a few to choose from, Studio Max, Maya etc, for 2d stuff my personal choice are Illustrator and Photoshop but I know that others don't bother with that fancy vector muck and get stuck in with Photy!
As long as it all goes inside the lines you'll be fine!
Harriers...uppy downy things.
Hi,
Our tutorial library has 3 articles that should have you on your feet pretty well:
http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...um45-profiles/
Uh, Jester, I think you are in that list along with many others here!Blowhard, Ugo, Gamary, JFR, Supah, Kakkuk, Baron, Vacajun, Grubby, ratfugel
I'd gladly get some Jester lessons!
Start out with what Ad posted. Give it a try and report back with results and questions.![]()
FAST AND BULBOUS!
You've certainly come to the right place to learn.
Just as long as you dont mind an occasional friendly evisceration of your work, you'll be fine.
Tell us what skills you currently possess, it'll help us point you in the right direction.
Yeah, right.I'm still waiting for Blowhard, Ugo, Gamary, JFR, Supah, Kakkuk, Baron, Vacajun, Grubby, ratfugel, and the likes to teach me, so get in lineFunny thing is I've learned a lot from you. So if you're learning from me, I'm getting confused. The chicken or the egg? OK, here we go again. I have a nose bleed.
@olife: Start with the tutorials as mentioned and read the various threads. This forum is a never-ending class, and you should find everything you need. Even if some of the stuff seems too advanced, you'll probably find it useful later.
If you don't want or can't put money in Photoshop (which is expensive), you can either try and buy an old version (I started with Photoshop 7) or use GIMP (I've never really tried it and can't say if it's good or not. It's supposed to be).
I think even before you get started, decide what you intend to get out of drawing profiles. Are the profiles for your own pleasure or do you intend to sell them to obtain profit? There are so many people doing this kind of thing today it is very difficult to break into the market, or even be good enough to be considered.
There are even armatures so to speak who are equal to if not better than the “professionals” and they still can’t make money. So decide before you start investing your cash.
Learning is the best part IMO and running through the tuts on simmers will give you very good advice, which will get you up and running in no time. It’s the fine tuning of your skills which will take time and practice.
I suspect any of the accomplished profile artists on simmers will be more than happy to chip in with help and guidance once you have run through the tuts here.
Remember too, there are many different techniques and methods for using said software’s, there is no one fixed way. Your own time and experience will decide which works best for you once you get more fluid at creating templates.
After that, best of luck, looking forward to seeing you progress.
And the guys on here are all as good as, if not better than me now, which is why I said what I did in my first post in this thread. So come on guys, share the wealth![]()
