    Re: Im going to Boston.

    GFR and John,

For the past several years I've been volunteering to scan and archive the photos taken in the Langley Full-Scale Wind Tunnel during tests of full-scale aircraft. We now have over 3,000 photos taken over the 80-year lifetime of the tunnel (1931-2009).

    Take a look at
http://crgis.ndc.nasa.gov/historic/643_Test_Log for a list of all test subjects. Then open the link for Test 125 which was a test of an A-20A for engine cooling and drag in January of 1941.

Take look at the high-resolution photos such as http://crgis.ndc.nasa.gov/crgis/imag...NACA_22841.JPG which is a left side view showing the black hole fire extinguisher.

http://crgis.ndc.nasa.gov/crgis/imag...NACA_22890.JPG shows a view of the gunner's compartment

but the right side view in http://crgis.ndc.nasa.gov/crgis/imag...NACA_24311.JPG is (as John would say) very interesting as it shows a wing root cover similar to the down-under bird!!!!

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Fantastic images thanks Joe!

I'm beginning to understand that the RAAFM's example has the correct panel lines and wing fairing (which seems obvious when you consider how complete it was upon recovery) and its the later 'G' models that have slight differences necessitated by the fitting of the wider turret.

Time for paint, let the games begin..

Just to prove that I do work occasionally that isn't a Mustang, I've decide to blow the dust off this one.

Still much to be done, but its beginning to take shape.

WOW! It looks BIG! Nice work so far. You've got the painted glass nose really well worked out! The gun pod is nice too. EXCELLENT!

The glass nose was fared over with aluminum. FWIW.

Haven't really worked the panel lines rear of the engine, but the front lines are the look that I'm aiming for...right now anyways. LOL.

Prop is a place holder borrowed from my Dauntless, I doubt its even proportionally correct.
