Re: B5N Kate
Panel lines, both light and dark are a little prominent for my taste, and the highlight could be softened somewhat. Otherwise these are quite effective.
I'd like to see at least a portion in a higher-rez. These low-rez versions aren't helping my judgement much
Cant comment on the colours or shape I'm afraid, I'm having enough trouble with the easy ones and prefer to leave the relatively obscure ones to others.
I keep looking at these and I really like them stylistically. They remind me of the Airco Aircam series books!
This is really tricky to comment on though since most of us are going for the quasi photo-real look that's popular these days. But I do really like these, they remind me of something more comforting than the over complicated look most of us are after.
What is next after the Kate Wildr?
B5N1 version, both from Chinese Ops and the Ryujo then a couple other Pearl Harbor Kates. Next might be a US observation plane , O-46 or O-47, or maybe the B-18 that John started and never finished. I also am liking the FW-58, and Ju-86. I have many photos of all the US planes, I used to post these on another forum that John is familiar with. Close ups as requested.
I agree: you definitely has worked out your own very nice "book illustration" style. Very good work!
P.S: The only thing I suggest is to work little more ob the shading of the tail stabilizer that looks (perhaps 'cause of the camo colors) kinda "lost" so far...
First, thanks John for the bomb info on the val post.... you could have said something. I had used older Japanese bombs from another artist... I should know better.
Mangas, worked on the stabilizer.... hope this is what you meant.
Blowhard, I hope these are better than Aircam profiles, I grew up with them also, they were about the only thing available 40 years ago, Ward's profiles as well as Chivers who did work for Scale Modeller and Air Classics were primative but the only thing we had to go by.
Giantflyingrobots, panel lines were softened
Jarink, Shadows intensified on all examples, hope this is better.
Very nice work altogether.
I wonder: should the rivets be definitely visible at this distance?
P.S.: I still not sure about the weathering effects, but this is exactly what I am stuck with doing my Vals right now... This is perhaps the most difficult subject in every project...
