Re: general lighting on my He 162 profiles

The underside of the wing, I would draw a little bit darker

Re: general lighting on my He 162 profiles

    Hi Baron,

That's a very nice profile. It has a nice feel to it.

I reckon the top one is better. It is more realistic and the softer highlights suggest texture.

I'd darken up under your wings a bit. Shadows get darker the further away you get from the wing edge. The area under the middle of the wing would probably be darker than the parts near the edges. This will also help to bring the wingtip even more into the foreground.

Don't forget the same thing happens to all the bits underneath. I think the top of your nosegear door would benefit from some shading to show that it is sitting partly in the shade of the fuselage. It's very light where it meets the very dark underside of the nose.

Grubby, Thanik you for the input! Good points!

Heli! IMO the wing couldn't be darker as the shadow on the fuselage next to the wing! I personally like the profile more with shadows on the fuselage. But thank you for your input!

    Cheers, Simon

Just thinking about the illustrations of the 162 in the Jagdwaffe Jet Fighters book, I think Eddie Creek's. Yours are much better, they should have called you for that job!
Simon, I don't have my books in front of me, you did the illustrations for Classic's "Heinkel He162: From Drawing Board to Destruction" right...or was that someone else?

Re: general lighting on my He 162 profiles

    Hi BH!

Thank you for the kind words! The He 162 profiles in the Jagdwaffe series were made by Tom Tullis! And yes you are right about the profiles in the "Heinkel He162: From Drawing Board to Destruction" book. They were made by me.

Sometimes I decide to rework old stuff and try to improve to get better results. As I was asked to do some He 162 for a publication this was a good motivation to rework them.

    Cheers, Simon

PS: Email will be sent beginning next week!
