    Re: Me Bf109 G8 Bärwolf - part 2

Yeah, no worries, go for it. It would be interesting to know the source of the photos from your author which incidentally show a Yellow 13 on them whereas the Prien photo does not. Although the Prien photo was actually from Bärwolf? Posted by Jochen Prien on LEMB here:

"And I may add that I was contacted back then in 1984 by Adalbert Bärwolf who told me his story, refererring to a newspaper article in the German newspaper DIE WELT for which he was working as a free lancer, which dealt with his sortie on June 6th, 1944, over the allied landing beaches. He gave me this photo, the only one he had showing his Messerschmitt, and a number of photos showing the pilots of 3./NAG13 in France in the summer of 1944.

From what has since come to light I have no reason to doubt that Bärwolf's photo does in fact show a Bf109G-6 or Bf109G-8 of 3./NAG13 in France in the summer of 1944; whether it is really his "yellow 13" remains a matter of trusting Adalbert Bärwolf's information."

Thank Clint for your interesting post, and I'm waiting for the article for which I'm preparing the profile. I hope to have more informations on this subject. At the end, it was for me, the occasion to show to Simmers Paint Shop community my way and steps to make a Bf109G and get from you very useful comments !. It was a nice WE !
Now, I have to go back to my vehicles next projects (Tiger, Churchill, Humber Mk. III, etc.....

Ja Hans-Jürgen, es war ein sogenanntes Klavierband

Yes, Hans-Jurgen, it was a so-called piano hinge

    Hallo Heli.

Just to throw more in, the hinge may be straight but if it's in a recessed area the upper cowling line may not be straight-

It looks like it dips down some starting around the guns. There are better pictures of this area, but I'm at work
