I really like it, even though Master John says you're full of c**p.
My only nitpicking would be to suggest that you look at the top of the interwing strut. It blends in with the wing. Some basic shading or lighting should resolve it IMHO.
Went for 'normal' colours and got some more details on a few areas. Hopefully the strut and the prop are better. Still got a couple of issues that I need to clear up but otherwise will have to go with a little guesswork.![]()

Hello inkworm!
Not my favourite plane, but you have done a very nice work! If you don't mind I have some notes for you.
- you shouldn't use black for the markings. Use a dark gray. If you use black you have no chance to notice shadows if there are some. (example the swastika at the tail)
- I miss the shadow from the wing on the bombs
- maybe darken a little bit the wheels. for me they are to grey
- shadow on the fuselage from the prop.
Cheers, Simon
Thanks for the comments, all useful and dealt with, I've added a hint of prop shadow but as the sun is creating the highlights on the visible side of the fuselage the upper prop would cast a shadow mostly on the other side. Tried it out with a spotlight and another model earlier.
Also appreciate the fact that even thought you're not a big fan of the type you like the artwork Baron. I don't suppose you know if there was a standard camouflage pattern that would have been applied to this type of reconnaissance aircraft as John seems to think they generally weren't all over green but most of my source material shows otherwise with the profiles and the photos are mostly too poor a quality to show any detail.![]()

The scheme probably does exist in the period Hs123 manual. A quick look on the Hafner website shows a manual from 1938 with a camo pattern diagram. Image is too small to tell what pattern it is though. I can only find the early 61/62/63/65 pattern in Ullmann's Luftwaffe colours.![]()
Apparently production ended in October 1938 so whether any manuals were updated with a new 70/71/65 pattern is unknown but unlikely. So the 70/71/65 may have been made up in the field. You may have to have a search around for photos to see if the scheme was repeated in the same fashion from one aircraft to the next. The new Kagero book on the Hs123 has just been released so that might have some clearer images. Are these profiles for the forthcoming Mushroom Hs123 book?![]()
Thanks for all the info Clint, it's a big help, found a few more photos which just confuse the matter. And yes it's for the MMP book, shame I can't get an advanced copy so I can see what I will do!
