    Re: F-84G Thunderjet

But it is rare to get a really good side profile shot from far enough away to avoid any perspective and if it is the only option left to use as a starting point then what can you do?
I agree with Inky. Unless you're very lucky and find a picture taken exactly at 90° with a telelens, a composite of pictures can do the trick. It does take some getting used to, though.

@Inky: there were photos, but only of the swept-wing variants.

Funny, I always check Flickr, and for some reason I didn't think to do so in this case. I guess I know what I'll be doing tonight, even though Flickr is better for walkarounds than for side-views. How are you progressing on the F-84?

Got your downloads cheers and transferred the lines to Photoshop and knocked out some basic shading yesterday but been at the rugby today, other half has taken the kids away so beer and a war movie tonight, will pick it up tomorrow though and push on. Looking forward to doing the panel variations though.

Let me know if you get lucky with a perfect photo as I want to double check the line drawing to be on the safe side.

    Hi GM,

Thought I might find something for you in my collection of old NACA test subjects-lots of perspective unfortunately. Try

for the YP-84A and here's one from 1949.

    Re: F-84G Thunderjet

I've finally started this today. A big thank you to Chris, who shared his line art with me. 95% of the profile is based on it, but I have modified a few things here and there (most notably the wingtip tank position, which seemed a bit too advanced).

That's looking pretty nice Gamary And I'm sure Inky knows more about this plane than he wanted to

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Another more-or-less visible correction I made was making the flaps bigger (chord-wise), as it seems they are too small on your profile, Chris. That should be an easy fix, though.

    Here's another update:

I just realized that I'd forgotten to turn off the "checklist layer" before saving to JPG... I use a special layer for annotations and "to-do/to-check" list...

    GM,

How about the lines at top of rudder (see NACA photo)?
