Oh dear you really need to clean your monitors!
Will post up a photo later but PC, tea, dual monitors, wacom, music, spare drives, more tea, reference stuff including google, tea, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge.
For me the 5 essentials, in no particular order:
- Reference material.
- Music.
- Mac.
- Software (Photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign).
- Graphics tablet.
Forgot an essential: An understanding other half.....

Hello,
I can recommend a good brand for monitors that deliver a perfect picture even after years
Greetings
Hans-Jürgen
As can be seen in the photo, my monitor screens have a special coating that means I don't need to wear glasses when working on them. To me the screens look crisp and sharp...![]()
I find that it looks like that after a few pints of cider...
Here's my play room. There is also a mac to the left that the kids use, well what else would you do with one![]()

You can have the most expensive kit money can buy, but if you cant draw worth a damn, then it aint worth dink.
"Please note:- this is not aimed at anyone here", however, I do know someone who has invested his last penny in to quite nice and very expensive photographic equipment and to coin a phrase, (his work is dog shite) he would have been better off investing in laser eye treatment or a good pair of spectacles. That way at least he could see the shite he is churning out and maybe spare the rest of us lying to his face about how interesting it is.
My kit is an aging i7 950 on an equally old MB with a meager 12gig of ram.
10T's of HDD and SDD does kinda give it some legs though.
CS3 not a (Mickey Mouse) copy!
Add red wine, I said red wine, not nail varnish remover, or sink cleaner and you've got one really good pissartist :-)
So that's where John's been hiding. He didn't mention he was taking up photography.![]()
A good set up does speed up the work flow though for those who are half decent. But I know what you mean and there is an assumption among those who are starting out or are clueless that the latest version of Photoshop is essential even if they won't even half the features that came with the old v5.5 Think I'll stick with my current adobe suite as I don't like the changes to their pricing structure.
I think John has always been interested in 'that' sort of photography!
