Creating new wheels can be headachingly difficult.![]()
I'm trying to make a new mechanical layer for the A-20. The wheels look like total crap so, I'm remaing them. The R-2600 was easy, I found a picture wich was very usable. The black tire I just created is going to be replaced. I found that it was best to work your way inside out. Start on te rim and the spokes first. If anyone has any good hints on the wheel or how to create other interior parts, please post them!![]()

Looks pretty good to me. I end up taking forever to center the wheel and make sure the sidewall/tread seam matches.
Oh no he's ttrying to invent the wheel...
Coming along nicely though.![]()
It took me the better part of the day. It looks nice altough the mainwheel thread texture is repeated five or six times on the 3D model so you can't really display any wear on it. That looks a bit funny.![]()
Just rectifying, in the middle of the wheel, the 3D disc from Jester's_Ink can be seen. I took a screenshot from http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...d-objects.html and cut and resized the disc. Thanks Jester's!![]()
I could've done it myself tough. Not much can be seen of it anyhow now the wheel is squeezed into a few tiny pixels on the A-20 template.
How big are they? I usually do my wheels REALLY BIG and I can get finer details, then reduce them to the correct size-
Of course it's still hard painting them even if you've got good drawings and photos to copy. And centering them on the model is hard if it isn't already done.
I think if you want good quality art you've got to take the time to do it, no substitutes or tricks :P
Your A-20 wheels look pretty good to me![]()
FAST AND BULBOUS!
Thank you. I could've done more work on it. But it looked right from a distance and they are not more then a few pixels large on the skin. Also, the texture of the wheel is copied to the other side as well so both sides are exactly the same. And centering isn't a real problem if you use the guides along with the Transform (CTRL+T) tool.
