Re: How to draw lines of rivets in PSP?

Aaaahhhh! That explains your collection of desert skins Your MAW addon looks very impressive from the screenies. A/C , terrain and ground objects all look very good, but I must say that I can't ever remember seeing cows and washing lines as ground objects! Great detail Good luck with your add-on.

Re: How to draw lines of rivets in PSP?

Thanks.. well we are trying something new in MAW. Adding life to a combat simulator. We will even have civilian cars here and there...

OFF does the same for WW1 buffs, they have bicycles and cars and trucks on the roads and refugees and all

Oh by the way they have an interwiew with a WW1 pilot so make sure you speakers are on when entering the site.

So 2 big standalone addons for CFS3 is underweay and OFF seems to be ready for christmass

Re: How to draw lines of rivets in PSP?

    Hi Wildbat,
eh eh, I'm glad I've had a look here, as it gives me some idea of the ETA of MAW. Don't worry, I will not spread the word

About rivets : thanks for the pics of the big screws, that is very helpful
A suggestion : I think 35%, even in using the "overlay" blending mode, is too much for rivets on planes. These would look fine on tanks but usually, when you look at photos of planes, rivets are barely noticeable except if you're very close. That's why I would decrease the opacity of that layer to something about 20% (and even less).

I know that it's one of your trademarks, Wildbat, but frankly I think your rivets are a bit overdone. This, of course, is meant as a positive crit, and only reflects my opinion. However, I base my opinion on observing photos. Eventually, any painters chooses what looks good to him.

A rule I've chosen to apply to my painting, especially when doing the weathering and such : choose an opacity that seems to look good, then decrease it by about 2,3%. I don't trust my eyes for subtlety
That's the technique I applied to create the texture for the pavement on this bridge, and I still think the weathering is a bit overdone (the sides are not weathered yet).

PS : thanks for the OFF plug!

well I have, in all my recent paintjobs, reduced overlay to 12-15 % depending on the plane instead of the usual 27-32% So I had the same thought, that they are overdone.

Re: How to draw lines of rivets in PSP?

Sometimes I use this method in my PSP 6.2

    Paintbrush Tool/Round/Size 1/Opacity 40/Density 26

Re: How to draw lines of rivets in PSP?

I found a real budget method that I suspect is a bug in PSP 8 & 9. Oh, this only works if you want your rivets 3px apart ... which I do :laugh

Create a vector layer & use a 1px line to put in where your rivets are going to be. I tend to do the horizontals then the verticals on seperate layers
    Convert to raster layer & grab an eraser tool. Use these settings - size=3 hardness=100 step=200 denstiy=100 thickness=3 rotation=0 opacity=100
This is the magic bit - hold down SHIFT key & click at one end of the line then without releasing SHIFT, click at the other end.

Instant 3px spaced rivets. Only works with 3px though ...
