Sweet!
THAT WAS A LOT OF WORK!
I finally finish a gear down version of the Zero.
Just like everything else on this project, nothing was straight forward and a million and one details had to be tracked down and researched.
Nothing on this plane is what it seems :P

To quote a friend: Bloody Fantastic!
I suppose the black staining on the lower part of the wheel cover is exhaust staining?
Thanks guys![]()
Yes, loads of exhaust on this one
The amount of little details were mind boggling. My expert guide, Ryan, kept feeding me more photos and correcting things I had missed. Some things may have never been done in Zero profile art yet, like the tied lacing that hangs down from the tail wheel dust cover. That dust cover is unbelievably complicated in how the designers attached it, almost like they were trying to make things difficult.
Plus, I got some great help from Derek Brown with images of a Zero being restored near him.
YIKES, it's almost like opening Pandora's box deviating from one set of drawings and looking for more accurate sources. It seems like the further I go into this, the more I discover that just isn't available or not known about this plane and the more questions I end up with :P![]()
