Thumbs up Me first profile on Simmers'.

    Here it is.

It's been really interesting and instructive going through the steps of this profile. I've got to thank both Jesters-Ink for his tutelage and Monguse for his advice on how to finish her off. Cheers!

Like I said over at UBI-Zoo, it's a very good piece. The lighting looks great overall though it could do with some sharper highlights on some sharp edges to make them stand out more. You have managed to give a strong shape to a 2D drawing, a lot of people doing profiles never get to that point so you are off to a great start in this

Yep, fine work Goodwood. The wing feels like it stands out convincingly from the fuselage I think.

Very nice indeed. Keep up the good work. Is this your 1st profile, or just the 1st one on SPS?

Yes, it's my first work to be posted on Simmers' Paintshop. I've done some Razorback P-47s (bloody awful) and some Fw 190As (halfway adequate), but that was about a year ago or more...heh.

BTW, metalwork on the way...*hint, hint*

The wing looks great. So much depth. Curiosity - do you flatten your image into a single layer before making a jpeg? Your edges such as wing against fuselage show no signs of layers.

The untidiest part of my profiles is where semi-transparent layers overlap. For instance, two shading layers. Managed to get the shading layers down to two - fuselage and wing/engines - but still have problems where the layers come together.

One solution would be to flatten the image and smooth out the edges. Did that once and found I needed to make a change, which meant I needed to still have the layers. Could duplicate the image, then flatten. Was curious to know what others do.

Should mention that I work off a "paintkit". The basic image is used over and over again with just the markings and details such as windows, aerials and doors altered. Most of the options, such as spinners or cargo doors, are built into the paintkit as layers that can be activated or eliminated.
