    Re: Fouga Magister

I think I must be missing a shortcut some where or maybe you've all got to much free time
I have a super secret. Which I'll sell you for the modest sum of $ 10,000.

I also have way too much free time. But my probation officer says it's OK as long as I stay in front of the computer and don't go prowling around places.

    Glad you guys like it.

    Re: Fouga Magister

Well, I thought this was no longer a WIP and I was wrong. After recommendations by Denis Meunier (Patrouille de France pilot, 1974-1977), I've reworked the shape and angle of the airplane, drawn the landing gear and also added/fixed some details: missing ventral airscoop, shape of the wingtip tank, various stuff. I've also weathered the aircraft a bit.

BTW, does anyone have a good technique for long oil stains that follow the airflow on a good part of the fuselage. I haven't found anything satisfying yet. It's easier to do for shorter ones, such as on the landing gear panels:

Thanks, Santino. The main gear was actually fairly easy to do. The nose gear was harder and I'm still not really satisfied with it.

I'm withyou, Sun Dog, it is taking me weeks to do what these guys seem to do in days.

The Magisters are looking beautiful, Gamary. Keep on inspiring us!

I'm curious as to why the nose wheel is stuck up in the air? Is this something peculiar with the magister? I have leveled it out on my PC and it looks even better, to me anyway.

Regardless of this typically minor quibble, it really is a superb profile.

    Re: Fouga Magister

Thanks for your kind comments guys! Unfortunately, I will need to rework the whole canopy section again. This just goes to show the importance of good reference material and careful preliminary work. I used bad line drawings (i.e. all I had) and didn't cross-check enough against actual pictures.

As for the nosewheel being so high, the reason is that the airplane is drawn in "flight attitude". On the ground, the airplane's nose goes down further (1,8?). As this has "re-become" a WIP, I didn't bother to tilt the drawing or draw a line to represent the ground but I will in the future, once I've finished redoing the template.

Is this what you wanted, santino?
