Thread: EMB-312 Tucano

Come on Gaetan. At least you could do some research:

Elephants at the Rio Grande Zoo - City of Albuquerque

    Geez! You're slipping, Sir...

I don't have any reference shots of the Esquadrilha da Fumaca, so my criticism here is purely non-constructive, fun and may cause side effects that include nausea, cramps, foot fungus, internal bleading, and death.

Wait, wait! Does this help? I e-mailed it to you, too!

    Re: EMB-312 Tucano

This is probably of no significance to anybody but me. However, just for the record, a Short's black RAF Tucano has just flown over my trees at about 400 ft. I live at the top of a hill so his actual operating height would be quite a bit more. Suddenly, with all this correspondence and me having profiled one, I must have become Tucano sensitive! Boy, are these Garretts noisy - you can hear them coming from miles away. (Somehow one never hears of aeroplanes fitted with silencers).

Introducing the Lockheed YO-3A. Of course, it doesn't look half as fun to fly as a Tucano would be.

VT, thanks a lot for the pic, which is very useful.

Rat, sorry to hear you're being disturbed by them.

Notice that mine are better in that respect as they are far quieter. If I were you, I'd go to the local Morrisons and try to find a Stinger SAM of sort and shove it up those lateral exhausts.

Thanks for the info Gamary. Now I come to think of it, I HAD heard of the little YO-3. When they say it never received a round, were they expecting the enemy to clap? Meanwhile I'll drop a line to the Tucano's CO with a quick sketch showing a couple of simple mods he can make to those cans sticking out of the sides. Then I'll nip out and get the Stingers just to make sure. OK?

Nice drawing with very good lightning and shadowing!

Although modern props are not my favorite planes, this one looks good.

For once that I draw a modern plane, the French have retired their Tucanos. Here is one of the special schemes that were created for this occasion.
