    Re: SAVOIA MARCHETTI S.79 "SPARVIERO"

    Bingo!!

So, resuming, to make the correct profile of CQ+HO, it should wear german camouflage colors or Yugoslavian colors with german cross? This passage was not clear to me. And underwing is yellow only in the tips, right? while down is light grey-blue?

    Re: SAVOIA MARCHETTI S.79 "SPARVIERO"

I don't know about the underside wing tips, I would go for yellow? Now as for the German colours I think he was leaning more towards Yugoslav colours (dark green & dark earth). I dont know if these existed or were imported RAF colours? It is a bit confusing isn't it! I'll ask him to be a bit clearer.

I'm asking mainly beacuse form the evidence, the picture you posted previously, it has a neat squared darker color over the clear one in typical german way. Doesn't seems like juts an add-on of the german cross over a Yugo paint......

They may have repainted it in a kind of German pattern but using the paints available to them in Yugoslavia at the time which had a limited selection of RLM and a limited selection of RAF paints. I'm just waiting for him to get back to me Ugo. Thing is him saying Dark earth and Dark green sounds very RAF to me?

    Re: SAVOIA MARCHETTI S.79 "SPARVIERO"

    From TOCH!

"I have chance to talk with sergeant who has engaged in painting of this machines and he claim two color on top side, brown and green. But some image definitely show third color. Interesting to note that during the conversation with another Yugoslav pilot of SM. 79, he said that there is no other camouflaged used but Italian mottle.

I know this image for long time but I could not guess that it is interesting.
    "

Again broken English but I get the jist. Interesting stuff its looking more and more like brown + green for the 2 upper surface colours but still nothing concrete and no specific colour names.

    Re: SAVOIA MARCHETTI S.79 "SPARVIERO"

This makes a WHOLE lot more sense than the yellow undersides. That didn't seem right.
Truth or not, the Yugoslav paint makes sense.

It seems strange that some profiles show a brownish ring around the front of the engine nacelles
That's not a "brownish ring", it's the exhaust! Just different ways to interpret burnt metal, was it copper or steel? No matter what, it's an exhaust
Ugo has done it very nice on his profiles!

I stand corrected exhaust it is then At least we don't have to work out what bloody colour they are. And your right Ugo has done a splendid job on them.

Small update the fuselage code is not CQ+HO.
    CQ+HO was a Klemm Kl 35.
So what else could the partially hidden last character be? Q again, S, G, C,?

    Re: SAVOIA MARCHETTI S.79 "SPARVIERO"

    Cheers Simon

The guy who posted the info about the Klemm being GQ+HO over on TOCH will be interested in this. I should really check things like this before assuming everyone is correct.

    Thanks again

    Clint
