Looking really good, but it seems like you painted the cross over the window...
Looking good Ugo! There do appear to have painted over the windows in the photo also? Also what are those things sticking out of the ventral gondola?
John, Blowhard, or any of you guys, what's your opinion on the colours?
These colours were the imported German paints available to the Yugoslav Vazduhoplovstvo Vojske Kraljevine Jugoslavije - VVKJ that they used on their imported Dornier Do 17Kb-1's. and possibly BF109E-1?'s:
Pompeianisch Braun
Zuggrun
Gelb RLM 04
Hellgrau RLM 65
Silber RLM 01
Also these are the British RAF paints available to the VVKJ used on their imported Hurricanes. My source points out that these paints were used at the (Zmaj, Ikarus and Rogozarski) factories. Now I think it's important to note that someone over on TOCH mentioned that this SAVOIA MARCHETTI S.79 was possibly repaired/repainted at the Ikarus factory maybe due to its location and the proximity of this aircraft when captured?
Red Brown (Type S)
Light Green (Type S)
Mid Stone (S)
Sky (Type S)
Aluminium Dope
Without trying to be a pain UgoI think there is good evidence that the upper surface camo colours were: Light Green (Type S) & Red Brown (Type S) shown above. Lower surfaces could have been either: Sky (Type S) or Hellgrau RLM 65? Whatever it was It's gonna be interesting?
Cheers
Clint

I would use the Digital RAF swatches on Simmers Ugo because the colours look iffy on the swatches I posted. Anyone have an idea what RAF Red Brown could be?
Ugo are they the colours listed in the simmers swatches because the light green looks to dark. As I said the colours I posted are a bit wrong (Dodgy website).
From Simmers Paintshop Swatches:
Light Green: R=138, G=142, B=133
As for the Red Brown I don't know what the equivalent RGB values are? Perhaps someone else may be able to enlighten us? They could mean:
RAF Terra Cotta (FS. 20152): R= 156, G= 71, B= 59 (Not sure!!!)
Clint
Yeahit does look a bit weird. Forget the Terra Cotta dude.
"No matter that the main camouflage colors was imported from Germany and the UK, they have differ from the standards used in their military application. A set of four colors were from the British origins and most of them derived from standard RAF colors. The main change is that the paints were produced in “S” form which gives to the coats glossy appearance. Three colors were from RAF standards. Light green were used in the camouflage of the RAF biplanes, in finishing of lower wings and sometimes on the fuselages. Mid stone is the standard desert camouflage color, which saw widely use in the warplanes deployed to the Africa theatre. Red brown is appeared in their industrial charts but there is no evidence that it was used in operational services. Main difference is that the RAF used paints with flat appearance. Additions of ingredients for glossy appearance change the tone and intensity of the original flat colors and no matter that they are actually the same color they appeared differently due to those changes. Lower sides remained in Sky and this is the only color to be identical to those used by RAF. RAF regulation gave possibilities that each camouflage colors could be delivered in “S” (smooth) form but that was only applied on the Sky color. That mean that the camouflage colors delivered to the Royal Yugoslavia was made under the official RAF regulations but thus was not generally in widely use by RAF. Only exception in this way was Red brown color." Taken from: Here
Again what is Red Brown Colour? Ugo I would check the colours on the website above. 3 pages of info on the Yugoslavian Colours in WW2. There are some swatches on one of the pages, could try those?
Difficult one this!
Clint
hi clint,
just one point, most camouflage paints were type S (for smooth) ie semi gloss, just bacause they only put it on some paint names means nothing, they found very early on that flat (matt) paint increased drag
the red brown as me thinking, i don't remember ever hearing of this colour, but i could be wrong
