Re: Scratchbuilding in 1/160th using paper

    Thanks guys.

On glossy paint, I've thought about this. Biggest problem is that the models are not remotely smooth, and a glossy finish would probably look like a mess showing erratic reflectivity. This would highlight the surface roughness even more.

As for what's next, well I don't know that I'll do anything else at this scale. What I might do is explore how I might achieve a decent glossy finish on paper on some test work. The paper has been enjoyable to work with, so seeing what's possible here makes sense before I close the book on the material.

I half expected this was the reason and a fair call on that one too
They definitely look superb as they are!

If you fancy doing more along these lines, how about something like a night-time (i.e. involving LED and glassfiber lighting!) 1950s fuel station or something?

Or a piece of Le Mans race track...?

Or in other words: I'd love to see more!

Ah, yes those would be exciting subjects! That 1950s fuel station would be fantastic. Who knows what the future holds, it might be possible.

Lately I've been looking at repairing some old tube radios I've got, so my attention is drifted from model building some. Mainly what brought me to finish this work was to provide a protection for the models.

But if I do start any new projects I'll surely share them here. My main worry is to remember to take work in progress photos, it's so easy to forget!

It would make MUCH more work but have you tried sanding sealer used on wood? It would make the paper into a more stable sand-able surface. But you'd need to make your own miniature sanding tools too. You could also try super thin cyanoacrylate. That would make your paper into an almost styrene plastic like surface. I've done this before but not on anything that small and delicate. It's harder to sand but if it saturates through the paper you can sand and buff it out like glass
But on the other hand, your models are amazing as is!!!

OH BOY! C-Type Jags, Mercs, Ferraris, YOU GOTTA DO IT!!!!

    FAST AND BULBOUS!
