i do like the cast effect, looks just like the real things
As I mentioned in BLOWHARDS IV thread, I have a AFV project up and running. Here's the first WIP's.
I wouldn't consider any of them to be complete just yet, concentrating on one piece at a time has never been my forte, I prefer to flit between them all.
You'll probably notice that they are all sans wheel nuts, I'm currently having some trouble with my nuts, I suspect that if I continue to work them they'll turn out alright.
Generic paint for now.
Awaiting the 9 pound hammer reply.![]()

OH VERY NICE!!!! A Demag Halftrack or a Sdkfz 250??? The same running gear I think.
Will you do the whole series???
I'd like to pick your brain about your nicked rubber and your cast texture if you'll share.
My only suggestion is some color. Get some color in there. Right now they almost look monochrome.
WOW! This is exiting!!!!!![]()

FAST AND BULBOUS!
I would guess with the rubber that a new layer has been created, some dirty brushes applied to it, an emboss filter applied and the fill on the layer (assuming it's photoshop) dropped to 0, then another layer with some rough texture and a slight bevel applied.
I could however be wrong but it's how I'd tackle that finish.![]()
I get thatI want specifics, what brushes and setting, blurs? If GFR is willing to share that. Of course it might be a State secret, in which case I'll understand if those details aren't for public consumption

ahh I'm with you, I'll teach you to suck eggs next week. Do the specifics actually matter, if you have a good idea of how something is achieved it should be easy enough to recreate it?
Danger Will Smith...DANGER!!! GFR has started profiling armour. Is nothing sacred any more?
Congratulations on picking correctly, until I started this project I assumed that all German half-tracks had exactly the same running gear. But the crazy bastards even had slight variations between two types of running-gear that are otherwise identical.
Right now its a '250, I hope to use it to do variations on the Demag D7 as well, but both types were used in so many different variations and sub-types I think it would turn into a project of ZERO proportions, and you know where that leads...eh?
Inkworm is pretty spot-on, there is nothing to it really, I'll post up the brush's and settings later-on when I open the file.
Right now its a rough approximation of dunkelgrau?. Everything changes when I decide its final colour scheme/time period.
Thanks.
Oh...How soon we forget.

Unless you're only talking finished jobs, then you most certainly have a point.![]()
What? You think you're Smeagol?I'll teach you to suck eggs next week
OK, GFR, I take it you're doing an earlier 250, not the 250 Neu?
Everything has some color in it, and not just the gray, but that rubber too?Right now its a rough approximation of dunkelgrau?
You know, color-
Or maybe you'll add that later?
