You better be talking about Otters MG 34.
Sorry Otter, I have my doubts about its accuracy as well.

I wonder why the barrel hangs below the top of the finger guard?

Here's the best image that I have of the MG34 unfortunately the centre is obscured by the books spine, but still pretty good overall.

I think you're slightly obsessed with the Neu.

I'll be lucky to finish this one.

GFR, let this be a lesson to both you and BH. Never try drawing something you haven't properly researched first and never try reproducing something from an image that's only 200 pixels wide. I hope you'll find yourselves suitably chastized now. I'll re-post this when I've done the correct homework. Oddly, there's not many good pics on this one. I did better on a search for the MG42.

I see what you did there.

Anyways, here's what I've been using as a stand in until I get 'round to doing a proper version, I thought that this would be good enough, then I placed it onto the 250 and realized I was very, very wrong.

I started it with the best intentions...

Maybe I'll wait for your definitive line-art!

Seriously though, as much as I enjoy wasting much of my spare time 'drawing' profiles I don't take the whole thing too seriously, nobody should.
True. But I do enjoy it. (And so do you, or you wouldn't be bothering so much )

GFR, if you've got a larger scan of the photo above I'd really appreciate a copy via email.

    Re: The long and winding...rooaaadddd.

Got a start on the 'weathering', as you guys know, I like 'em used and dirty, I try to avoid the rusty look that modelers seem top prefer these days. is dirty, is good.

I've been experimenting with generic paint schemes, but that can wait until the next update. Again if anybody has good period images of the dark yellow 250's I'd like to see them.

Not at all happy with how the MG34 when shown with the '250, so Im doing a detailed version along the lines of my twin .30 cals for the Dauntless.

Armour takes too long, and I'm itching to get back to one of my many unfinished aircraft profiles.

Looks really REALLY great so far!!!

Something to look into- shouldn't the horn and tools be painted sand too? I think those things were generally painted all at the same time. I'd check that, it might be boring but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
(remember to go by war time photos...unless you're doing a restoration of course )

I'm certain that you are correct. I guess that's the problem when using a modern restoration as you main reference, you lose sight of the forest for all the trees.

Well, it's not wrong if you're doing a restoration, and it certainly looks more interesting. That's reason enough to bend the rules
