Just wait! I'll finish a proper MG 34 in a bit. Then we'll all have something to work with.

    come on BH,

the horn is a new one fitted last week after the original was damaged by shrapnel, and they come out the box just like that, not had time to paint it yet, as for the tools, they were nicked of somebody else's tank/halftrack

Just picked up the Dragon 1/6 scale kit of the MG 42. Totally awesome with tapered brass barrels and all! Box art is by a friend of mine, Ron Volstadt, who does most of their box art.

Interesting coincidence, considering that the reference image that I am using calls for a MG42, fortunately I was already well down this road, and like the dirt & grime layers I'm recycling the MG3 from my Leopard II. Pretty close, just a few minor exterior details and they are much the same.

Are you going to do the line-art? It'll be a bit late for me, but I'd like to compare yours and mine at some stage.

    Are you building the Kit?

Didn't drop the coin just to watch the parts lay in a box and look pretty. A word of warning...the instructions are the WORST I've seen in 45 years for a kit of this complexity...160 parts. I'm putting it together mostly by educated guesswork. Yes, I'll be drawing it at some point, and yes, I'll share it so all of us can use it.

You are, indeed a rare bird then.

Any true model builder worth his/her salt, has a closet full of 'Classic' molds that they can't ever bring themselves to sully by building.

I don't build models, I waste my time profiling.

Oh come on, they're not that bad, just think like a German gunsmith and it'll be easy

I used to build a lot but there is no un-do/command Z in plastic models, plus there aren't any paint fumes with computer profiles

Not to mention Photoshop brushes are much easier to handle, and the airbrush never needs cleaning.

Although I don't consider this project to be nearly complete, its time to put it in the bottom draw for a while.

Here's where I'm at, I need to add the MG42 a couple of 'jerry cans', finish detailing the packs and add more external stowage and dirty he wheels some more, but that can wait 'til the urge strikes again.

Oh...yeah, Its just past midnight here, so seasons greetings, guys.
