    Well not the big bulges but I think the top is squarer then you are making it out here.

    Here's AB910 in it's current scheme and it does drop a bit at the top if that is what you're referring to. From the cockpit to the very front panel where the oil filler flap is it is pretty much straight but does drop down with a slight curve to it. I know it shouldn't be like that and looks wrong but it is!

    No I mean the part above the exhaust stacks, the fold there is quite sharp but on your drawing it looks like it is very smooth.

    I don't know if this helps, but it might explain what Supah is trying to convey.
    Its an old out of date example which exaggerates the nose lighting and shows the drawing about half way through it's development.

    Also take into consideration the V cross section of engine, giving the Spitfire a flattish dome to the top of the cowl rather than the inverted V's with a the rounded tops like 109's.

    I think that covers it?

    I don't know if this has been mentioned but the photograph appears to be a mk IX and the exhaust pipes on the profile are also non standard for a mk.v although a few late mk.Vs had the six stack exhaust most however had the larger 3 stacks on each side
