P.S.: by the way, can you point me into any guide how you guys do that overall profile 3D shading effects?

Nice stuff Magas! The SPAD looks great. I think they would look even better with more subtle line work.

    Re: P-40 (& subvariants) drawings

    Thanks, BLOWHARD.
I think I found some approach to rivets... The only thing that still really bothers me is: if to make rivets with pen or brush, Photoshop aligns all of them to invicible grid, so those rivets that are closest to each other (from adjascent rows) are not very accurate: the space between 'em either to big or to small... So it spoils all the adjascent rows (and otherall look)...

What do you mean by aligning to a grid? There are various snaps that can be turned off which might be what you mean, so just setting the spacing on the brush to 800% or something and the hardness right up then just clicking at the start of the line then holding down shift and clicking on the last point will draw a line between the two. Otherwise just draw the rivets in illustrator and paste into photoshop, either way should sort out the spacing issue.

    Looking good though

    Hi Mangas,

cool to have news from you dude !

The blueprints you use are quite good. About shapes, the rudders and the spinner are wrong. I made this shape improvement several weeks ago. Sorry it's not very clean -it wasn't for making profile, actually- but you can locate the differences.

    Hope it helps.

Good luck with the P-40 !

Hey! Hello, most devoted P-40 lover!
    Thanks for the blueprints...
Oh, no! Please don't say I screwd up the tail details!

Btw, I have a few questions:
    1. Was the border between Olive Drab & Neutral Grey strong or soft?
    2. Do you have the proper text (stencils) for the side radio hatches that I missed?
    3. Any idea how to make those metal shines effect?

    Mangas!

I have long admired your artwork! Your P-39Q is superb. This is my attempt to get a gloss on a C-47 however there are others on this forum who are better than I. I can tell you how I did this if you are interested,

    Hi Mangas,

    1. normally the border should be strong, but some renovated hawks have smooth render
    2. sorry, I have few stencils, only from pictures, and not this one
    3. McClaring posted a good example. Also I strongly recommend that you check the profiles by Ugo Crisponi, about the glossy render. Principles are always the same : you have global lighting and shadow effects and you have specific ones.
    Ambient, specularity and so on.
Simply, about profiles, make the specific effects harder and more contrasted and you'll have glossy render.

    Hope it helps !

    Cheers !

    Re: P-40 (& subvariants) drawings

    Hey to all P-40 fans.
Can anybody please explain me what's the proper look for the Alison' exhaust pipes for P-40E? Should they be flattened or not?

    These photoes have them both:

What's look to choose for P-40E?

    Re: P-40 (& subvariants) drawings

    Hi,
From what i've read, both where used on the P-40E. The rounded ones on earlier examples, then later the "fishtail" exhausts.
