Hi Guys,
Early GA this time. I got a commission to draw up this gorgeous 1953 Cessna 195. There are some kicker paint schemes around for this one and some excellent military schemes. Also quite a few on Edo floats, so I'll do quite a few variations on this one.

And a some bare metal versions too I hope?

FAST AND BULBOUS!
I'll look forward to this one. I've been meaning to do it as one of our unit members flies one. Haven't found the time yet.
I suppose you made the plans from scratch? It looks very good. The nose seems a bit akward, but I think the reason is that the one I'm used to seeing has a different, blunter, engine cowling.
This one is a must do! Polished metal and all. The Edo floats will be handy for other profiles as well.
Drawings were done from scratch. I had some contemporary Cessna material as a starter, but that was well short of accurate.
There were two main engine variations, the 190 with a smaller engine and the 195 with a larger engine. I can't tell you about different cowlings, Gamary, but I'd be keen to see a pic of the one you are talking about.
Grubby.
Beautiful aircraft, like Gamary I look forward to watching this one evolve.
Just one thing about the drawing do you thing the curve may be a little shallow just behind the cowl? Looks a bit more curved than you have draw it in the first reference image. Optical illusion, lens distortion, I dunno.![]()
I might be mistaken about the cowling, but that was my first impression. Of course, there might be several variants. There were two main engine variations, the 190 with a smaller engine and the 195 with a larger engine. I can't tell you about different cowlings, Gamary, but I'd be keen to see a pic of the one you are talking about.
I'll send you what I have when I return home.
I don't know how much reference material I have for it, but I can ask for some to other members of the unit, or simply go take them myself (I should be going there next week).
Thanks, Gaëtan.
There's no rush. I'm seeing the subject airframe myself in two weeks, so it's on hold until then.
I think the bodies are all the same, so what you have there should be the same as my subject.
Grubby.

Grubby,
could they send me the outline drawing in better dissolution?

Just made a quick check of your scale plan against photo references, Grubby, and I'm impressed. Everything seems perfectly right, and I know that's a very rare thing in scale plans. You're as good as it gets.![]()

One day I have to learn how to do a decent scale plan. I might want to try and learn how to use illustrator first.![]()
The key is using a good telephoto shot as a starting point. A loooooong telephoto shot will straighten out much of the paralax error. When you select reference pics, try and find one that looks straight down the wing AND the tailplane. If the tailplane has any perspective to it at all, there will be distortion in your illustration. Once I have that sorted, I use horrible distorted close-up pics to fill in the detail. (Forgive me for preaching to the converted!!!)
