Re: Valerie, you'd better love someone... Valerie, you'd better need that too...

    It's been quite a while...
In case I didn't do any obvious mistakes, here's later production Type 99 KanBaku, tailcoded 2-1-202, attached to carrier HIYO, Rabaul April 1943. (At the time of I-Go Sakusen, April 1943, JUNYO was the lead ship in No.2 Hiko Sentai (Carrier Division):

P.S: revised and approved by Jim Lansdale...
P.S.2: Thanks to BLOWHARD whose A6M perfect artwork inspired me all the way to make this D3A2...

Superb job, Mangas! Great weathering! Check again the exhaust pipe from the engine! The light should be more left and the shadow much smaller. Shouldn't be the tail wheel darker, because of the shadow cased by the horizontal tail and fuselage?

    Cheers, Simon

Thanks for the comments. Here's Aichi D3A2 Model 22 coded "AI-2-236" assigned to "Shokaku" aircraft carrier combat group, June 1943. Mild weathering effects:

    P.S.: A few shading/highlights layers reworked.

P.S.2: This one has opened rear gunner's part of the cockpit with the MG extracted. I hope someday I'll paint the gunner too...

Really, really cool work Anton! The camouflage colours look excellent too! Indeed the bottom colour is a warm greenish grey, not neutral light grey as often shown.

Btw, as a general comment, for Japanese aircraft colours always check Aviation of Japan ??????

Thanks to all for the encouragement.
I've started to rework D3A2 model template into D3A1. But, meanwhile, here's "Type 99 Kanbaku" from Usa Hikotai, 1944. Quite heavily weathered.
