    Albatros D.I & D.II

I already have several Albatros threads here so one more can't hurt

The first of the new year, The D.II. I doubt I have all the details and bugs worked out yet but here's a later D.II with the wing radiator. I'm still looking for a picture of the left side of this particular plane. So far only the right side seems to be around.

There are more version of the D.II yet, fuselage mounted "ear" radiators, and an OAW and LVG version as well. Some of the earlier ones have a more pointy spinner too. And there's the D.I yet to do.

    Wow.

BTW, does the wing root fairing cut out there, mid wing?

    Thanks
The wing root is weird really. The fuselage is rounded on the lower edge except for a more box like section where the wing attaches.
There are added fillets at the front and back of that box section so that there's a transition into the rounded edged fuselage.
You can see the box section without the added fillets here-

The wing edges are flat and just kind of butt up against the flat area on the fuselage but the trailing edge just hangs off.

It's pretty strange but I guess this was all still pretty new and this was was as good as any other. It makes much more sense on the D.III because the wing has a more shallow chord and also has a cut-out at the trailing edge where it meets the fuselage...but the D.III wasn't on the drawing boards at this time.

Ooops, that last plane needs a flair pistol.

Here's an OAW version, despite spending about 5 hours changing the details on this plane, you really don't notice too much difference

This one gets a different propeller. I just need to figure out what type of propeller. I'm pretty sure it's French and probably off a SPAD or Nieuport.

Yep, I see exactly the shape you are talking about on the fairings. The lighter wood tone of the trailing fairing threw me, thinking it was shading not tone. But the gray OAW conveys the transition to vertical well.

    Thanks!

But you know the changes are there and the odd other person who can spot the difference will know, great stuff as always.

Its the unseen that makes this whole exercise fun/worthwhile.

Its like looking at a "wheres Wally/Waldo?" book, only with better quality drawings.

Damn, that looks great! Particularly love the wood effect of the first one.
