You're right John, the drawings are always wrong... always! My current project is done from engineering drawings, with the hope that at last the drawings will be right. So there I am with three drawings of the elevator trim tab, all three different! *bangs head on keyboard*
MC, glad you got the wing fillet sorted!
Anton, a "proper" Yak-9 would be nice indeed. My 2001-vintage one is pretty poor.
Kelcey, thanks man! That was my original mission when I started 3D: to bring alive aircraft long gone!

If they are the real original drawings, then you have a chance. I know Dassault-supplied Rafale plans are deliberately flawed...My current project is done from engineering drawings, with the hope that at last the drawings will be right.
Thanks, and thanks Anton! The I-16 is on hold at the moment, but when I get back to it I'll drop you a line. One thing I'm interested in is the exact width of the cockpit opening and/or the width of the canopy rails on the Type 5.

Yes you're correct:

Unfortunately, all the drawings I have are of "modelling type" only. So they miss original dimensions. The only thing that is close to what you asking, is this:
But maybe this can help cause it has the stringers and some sizes:
As for the rails, I still have no info, sorry.
