    Moving Template

I finished the paint job. 1)How do I move it from PSPX to the game so I can see how it looks? And if I do, 2)Can I move it back to PSPX to make revisions?

    Re: Moving Template

First I would (and do) save first as a pspimage, then I resave as a .bmp. Then you will need to download Hunhunters Bright Batch file. You will save the skin to the 24bit folder then you double click the bright dos file to reduce it to 1mb, After that you move the .bmp to what ever skin folder in Il2.

You will have to start the game then check the skin.....and no there is no easier way

    Re: Moving Template

Well, you can onvert the image to 256 colors in PSP before saving it as BMP, but the quality will be less then when you do it with Bright.

Look here for a bit more about that: http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...e-artists.html

I've downloaded it, opened it up, it's on my desktop. But when I try to drag the template into the bright folder it doesn't accept it. It stays outside of it. What am I doing wrong?

    Re: Moving Template

The template doesn't go into the BRIGHT conversion folder, the final 24bit BMP saved from PSP goes in that folder. Running the batch file with that BMP in the folder should make the conversion in a command shell window.

You can verify that the conversion is done by simply checking the filesize. A 24 bit BMP is 3MB or so, while the 8bit BRIGHT conversion is just 1MB.

From here test the BMP in the game.

    Re: Moving Template

Unzip the Bright program and the batch file to a folder on your harddisk.
Then also save your skin as BMP into that same folder.

Then doubleclick the batchfile to run it.
After that your BMP file should be 1 MB in size.

By the way, you can add new skins into Pacific Fighters/Il-2 while the game is running by pressing ALT-ESC. Just have paint shop running at the same time and you can switch back and forth. Very good for seeing your results as you work.

When I try to unzip the bright program onto my desktop,I get a flash and then nothing, nothing on my desktop.

    Re: Moving Template

You must not put Bright on your desktop, but in a folder on the harddisk.
Then place the BMP-file in that same folder and double click the batch-file.

Yes you will see a black window open and close.
That is because Bright is a DOS program, not a Windows program.

After that your BMP file should be 1 MB in size. After you move it to the proper folder in IL-2 you should be able to select the skin.
