    Re: The line drawing bandwagon

Ga?tan, I had Photoshop for a year. After numerous tries I gave up on it. It was just too deep and complex a program to figure out on your own, so I took it off the system. Several years later I took a course in it (a cheap and dirty one) and now I understand it enough to do a few simple things with it. If I live long enough, maybe I'll figure out the rest of it.

Someone call the cops! Bring in a SWAT team! Someone stole the back end of Blowhard's drawing. Damn punks!!! There will be blood to pay over this. Everyone look for a bunch of kids running suspiciously down the street carrying what looks like the tail section of an aircraft.

    Re: The line drawing bandwagon

@Otterkins: same for me. I gave it a try and dropped it for 6 months. Then I tried again and began to make sense out of it. IMO PS is worth the effort, but only if you really intend to keep using it. It's not a one-time application...

@Blowhard: I fell like crying a four-letter word that begins with F and ends with K out loud when I see you engines and guns... (I case you were wondering, the word in question is "fork". I hope no evil mind had been thinking of anything else... )

It's a fantastic job. What you mean by "lots left to do" beats me, but I suspect you're just trying to frustrate us! lol

    Re: The line drawing bandwagon

It's been a while since I've posted anything new. My job is really sucking the life out of me, and all my time too But that's my problem
I've started working on the general fuselage contours and I've been playing with "coloring book" type stuff too.

I still need work on the nose section, more rounded and deeper contour to the metal areas.
I've also been struggling with doing the printed wing fabric in perspective and following the wing curves. That's really driving me crazy!!!!
The fuselage will get this funky splatter camouflage all over it eventually-

This plane is a minefield of colors and markings. Basically 2 batches made by Halberstadt, the earlier one has the lower color printed fabric on the upper surfaces and clear varnished fabric on the lower surfaces, and the later batch has the standard upper/lower fabric. The fuselage gets that wild stipple splatter treatment and matches the fabric type used.

To make matters worse there are 2 different cowlings used, one with the pilot's gun on the right side and one on the left
What have I gotten myself into???

BH, you are obviously a very talented and knowledgeable guy. Get to it man! ( and you wanted ME to work on the D9 cowlings after the painful process of getting that far!) Ye shall reap what ye sow!
