After some experimentation I have settled on 10000 @ 400dpi even though I have never bothered to print any of my profiles. Still happily using CS2 here.

I work at about that size too. I try and work at 1:10 scale. It makes all the math nice and easy. This usually results in around 10,000 - 12,000 pixels wide @ 300ppi. It does make for v e r y s l o w p r o g r e s s and LARGE FILES!
Right, its been ages since I've posted here. But I've been working on the GR4 profile again. I decided I really wasnt happy with the source drawings I had, so I'm in the process of redrawing the whole thing using photos, several different base drawings and most importantly, profile views taken from BAe's anvil CAD system. I had already completed most of the general layout when I got the CAD and luckily they matched up nearly 100% to what I had drawn to date.
I've also been drawing some stores up, again mainly using manufacturers drawings as source so I'm pretty happy with them. Here a few shots from Illustrator....

Hello Andy,
linedrawings are very very good.
Just one comment on the shadows:
the radome doesn't run in a stright shape with the fuselage. Looking at the Tonka from a 3/4 view (see the many pictures on the UK loops) it looks smaller as diameter than the fuselage itself that is almost a box. So you should add a curved shadow in the lower part from radome up to the gun.
The other suggestion is a sharp highlight form the upper intake to the middle of the fron side. I don't know if I could explain correctly. BTW check this artwork to see what I meant:
Thanks for the tips, I know exactly what you mean. Once I start to redo the renders using the new lines I'll rember that. Nice work by the way.
Superb work Ugo! I've said this before, but it's worth saying again...DON'T TRUST OTHER LINE DRAWINGS! Even the very best ones contain errors. Use them as a general guide, but base your work on photos. I know it's a pain in the *ss to piece them together, but it's the only way to be sure you are correct. The best of us here all work in that manner. What you have accomplished in this manner is pretty jaw-dropping Andy!![]()
Thanks, yeah all the drawings are inaccurate in some respect. I've got a bit side tracked today, working on some nose art for a GR1 version. (I've forgot to turn off the GR4 bits layer in this pic).
