With the second scheme, the all-red nose enables one to see what BLOWHARD meant about the highlight needing to be more rounded. Right now it looks disjointed, like the faring fore of the gunport was tacked onto a tube (at least for the upper highlights and not the shadows, which are fine).

MUCH MUCH better, bold shading does the trick!
I'm still not sure about the nose area either.
I tied, it's still not everything it should be as far are showing the correct contour but it's a small step in the right direction-

It's rounded in so many directions it's hard to decide what to do with it

Superb work, GF! I also think the only thing that needs improvement is the shading. Also, I think you should consider adding some "environment" reflections on the fuselage. If you look at the pictures posted by BH, you'll notice that:

1 - The first aircraft shown is in rather dull NMF, which still reflects the environment: yellow-orange light from the top, small windows, grey surroundings, etc.
2 - The second aircraft (Skyblazers) is highly polished NMF. You can shave in front of it and it reflects everything. AFAIK, no operational aircraft ever looked like that.
3 - The third aircraft is not NMF but painted silver, and it shows. It does not reflect the environment like the other ones.

I don't know how your Sabres were finished. If they were painted silver, then don't touch anything. If they were NMF, I'd suggest more environment reflection.

At any rate, that's an outstanding job!

Thanks for your advice, guys. It is all very much appreciated.

Gaetan, all CA-27s were painted overall silver, except for the panel near the tailpipe, so I'll leave that as it is!

The only thing I can think of that would add more definition is a lesser highlight on the front edge of the intake. Really though, you can reach a point where you do the poor thing to death.

Here's the next installment. I've bulged the aluminium somewhat and updated, actually backdated, the nosewheel to the correct early version. I've had another crack at the nose highlights, too.

Next version will be a nice one. It has a load of eight 5" air to air unguided rockets under each wing.

... make that TWELVE rockets per side. They are unguided air-to-air jobs, so I figure they just fired a bunch of them off at once and hoped one got close enough to the target to detoneate. I think there is a set of proximity sensors around the nose ...
