I'm really starting to enjoy myself here ... (Yes I know that's the point.)

    Here's the gun blast tube.

Sod the weld lines, I love the screws, all angles and depths. Top of the mad list.

Oh for pete's sake Jester! Would you kindly stop thinking about screwing all the time? What's wrong with riveting or welding for a change?

Good stuff mate, 'specially the blast tube. However, like the tank did, the missile needs more depth to it.

    Re: CA-27 Avon Sabre

Thanks for the kind words, guys. A lot of what I have learned I have learned here thanks to your help and suggestions.

My technique for weld lines is as follows (more or less).

This is a weld from my Sabre drop tank. The technique is basically the same with the blast tube.

    1. On a new layer, run a path where weld is to run.

    2. Stroke path with solid brush stroke. In this case 25px, 100hd and 100%.

    3. Run the Filter/Distort/Ripple filter to give nice crinkly edges.

    4. Set up a Layer Style with the following settings:

    Fill Opacity: 0 - 5%

Pattern Overlay: In this case I used a Zebra stripe pattern. Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity at around 5%, scaled to give me a nice weld pattern.

Bevel and Emboss: Depth 29%, Direction Up, Size 10% and slightly softened. I also change the Shadow Mode and colour to Screen and white.

Inner Shadow: I add a small inner shadow to define the inside of the top edge.

Drop Shadow: I add a large, faint drop shadow to dirty up the surrounding area.

    I hope this helps.

    Grubby.

PS: Sorry about the double posting of images. I don't know how to stop it doing that. I really wanted to insert the right pics with the right text, and this is the first time I have maanged it!

Looking at these pictures makes me feel so completely inadequate.

Grubby, I have a feeling this thing is going to be awesome when you get it finished.
