For those interested in historical things, they also have all the Missing Air Crew Reports of WW2! Interesting reading...
For example here is the eyewitness report from Bill Dunham about the shooting down of famous P-47 ace Neel Kearby by a Japanese "Oscar": Page 9 - Footnote.com

Until I can decide on what to do next, I'm going to continue to re-work(maybe even finish) some of my other projects. Added a top-hat and Curtiss props, working on the canopy/glass now.
simply the best! :-)
Excellent work mate!
I've just got one nitpick: if it's in-flight, the prop blades should be spinned and the turbo-supercharger ports on the aft fuselage should be open. If it's on the ground, the cowl flaps should be closed...
But yeah, like you said, not finished... :P
I was told the same thing about cowling flaps some time ago regarding my ju88 base drawing and although yes by all means they should be shut a responsible pilot/ground crew would shut them but I have seen many many photos of Ju88's stationary with no one in the cockpit, parked up with the cowling flaps in varying stages of fully open, slightly or shut. So perhaps a variation in cowling positioning is not so bad and a little bit more realistic.
