Re: Another one to quibble over

    i see,

and you found the same thing otter and myself found with regard the number of aircraft with the mast

with regard the underwing ariel, internal fit changes confuse the hell out me, all i know is when the fuselage mast moved the underwing one appears, not yet seen a photo with both fitted at the same time( but that don't mean they did not)

Actually the underwing aerial was on several earlier versions which also had the aerial mast as well i believe they were for two separate radio sets. I 've included a picture of a G-10 to illustrate. I only have one actual photograph of a K-4 with a radio mast and it does'nt show the side with the underwing aerial.although I do have several profiles which show the antenna mast on k-4s so that's not an issue anymore what we need to know is whether the k-4 had both sets fitted like earlier models.

Re: Another one to quibble over

There aren't that many pictures out there of k-4s with canopies still on them there may have been more with radio masts. I also remember the underwing mast being called the morane mast for some reason.

    (found this on wikipedia)

FuG 16 Z, ZE and ZY: These sets were airborne VHF transceivers used in single-seat fighter aircraft for R/T and W/T communications, and were also used for ground fixes and DF homing on ground stations when used in conjunction with the FuG 10P or FuG 10ZY. Installed for Bf 109G-3/G-4 and later, FW 190A-4 and later subtypes. Frequency Range was 38.5 to 42.3 MHz. The FuG 16ZY was also used for Y-Verfarhren (Y-Control), in which aircraft were fitted up as Leitjäger or Fighter Formation Leaders that could be tracked and directed from the ground via special R/T equipment. Aircraft equipped with ZY were fitted with a Morane whip aerial array. Principle components: Transmitter, Receiver, Modulator in one case, S 16 Z Tx, E 16 Z Rcvr, NG 16 Z Modulator Dynamotor U 17 Antenna Matching unit AAG 16 Z Modulator Unit MZ 16 Homing Unit ZVG 16 Indicator AFN - 2

Did that pointy spinner on the E-7 (Guess it had its camshaft cannon removed) improve the speed at all?

Re: Another one to quibble over

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought only the F,G and K had engine mounted cannons. the E3 onward had provision for an engine mounted cannon but it was unreliable and was mounted rarely if ever.
