You could always cheat by cutting in a photo of a pilot/gunner or a model figure thereof...
The trailing edge has had a rudimentary treatment at best, thus far, still aways to go before its convincing. Stay tuned!
Yer... I've had the same feeling ever since I decided to illustrate it with the canopies open. I've never attempted to draw crew before, should make for an interesting challenge.

Wonderful job you have done so far GFR..![]()
Interesting photos esp the 2nd, the 1st image is the one that sparked my interest in the Dauntless, in the first place.
Here's a little up-date. Twin .30 calibers, probably a little more detail than required, but you guys know how it goes...
oooooh, that's lovely! That glass looks just right, GFR. Nice one!
Holy cow! Extremely detailed as with all your profiles!
Nice 30 cal!
Did you see all those raised rivets in those photos?![]()
FAST AND BULBOUS!
just crazy!
great detail!!!!!!![]()
GFR, this request may sound a little odd, but I am currently doing a series of relatively low-quality profiles of a hypothetical dive bomber from my own Frankenstein's laboratory. They're totally unprofessional and just for the fun of trying out very different schemes and teaching myself new techniques. I've attached an example of one of these at a reduced size.
Anyway, I'm planning on doing a version with open cockpit and guns at the ready and was wondering if I used a modified, reduced size version of your beautiful twin .30 cal mount on my own humble creation.
If no, then I understand, but I didn't think it would hurt to ask.
Thanks very much,
Logan
