I like that colour shceme (used only on EC 3/10 "Vexin" aircraft stationed in Djibouti). These were the only Mirage III to carry Magic I missiles.
    Very, very nice images indeed...

I've got a question concerning your cockpit area. I've seen this amazing quality of details on the pictures of Marc Styling too and i always wondered if your cockpits are drawn or digitized photos?

Mark Styling uses photo's for the entire airplane judging by the detail shots of his profiles I have seen. It's considered cheating a bit

    Hi Clint,

Look at some of the detailshots of his F-16's, they dont look drawn to me. All detail bits like nozzles are more obvious but the edges of a lot of his work are really rough and the surface detail looks strange too.

I've not studied Mark Styling's artwork to have noticed but if it is the case I think it is a bit of a shame. Anyway back to Gamary's fine looking Mirage.

    Re: Mirage III

I'm afraid I'm part cheater here.

Whenever I can, I do everything by hand. When I don't have enough reference material, I generally use a picture as a base and then draw everything I can on top of that (i.e. everything I have good reference to).

The MIII is a 50-50 mix, as I found very few useful reference pictures of the cockpit. (No, I don't need more M IIIS cockpit pictures. I already have half a million and they're different from the IIIC/IIIE ). The parts behind the seat are completely redrawn, parts of the seat are also (pouch, ejection handle, cable), but the "base" of the seat is a picture. The instrument panels is also a mix. I drew the HUD and visible instruments, and made a few corrections but the base is also from a picture.

I try to use pictures as little as possible because it would tend to give two different styles in a single drawing, which would look awkward.

In any case, I try to make everything sharp and accurate and then add lots of reflections on the cockpit to hide it as much as possible.
