    P-38 Lightning

Another WIP. For the moment, I've only done the central pod. It was amusing to do it. Now I have to figure out how to organize my file and layers to add the booms and wings on top of that. I've never worked like that, but it should be an interesting attempt.

Looking good, don't understand the problem, assuming you use groups as well that is, treat each group as a separate file and it's easy.

Or depending on how your PC is handling the progress already? Flatten of a copy and work over that. Had to do that with the Ju88 as the layers were stacking up like crazy making my 10 year old mac start to cry.

Nice work...I think also of reworking mine P-38...
    BTW nice metal effect...

I always work with the layers as in order from viewer to the distance...It is handy when you wanna make template for versions, with different engine or so. try it
for example, Bf 110 template is done from B to G-4 just switchong on nd off the folders with layers...
But it is on the edge of my PC skills now But P-38 J should not be sucha a hard thing fingers crossed

I know I'm knew... but what I do to work with very large files (like the Gloster meteor) is to make a file for each step (fus, engine, wings) and a unified file (with all them) with each file as a group in smart object configuration....

    works for me...

Out of curiosity what size do you set the original to be at JGrigolo?

I normally do the whole thing in one document and pray that photoshop won't crash or fail to open a file, only happened once but that was with Illustrator.

well I set the new document as A3 at 300dpi, adjust the blueprint or the photo to give me 2cm of working space inside the "A3" and them crop the unused space... (the Cascavel serie of profiles is 3.808 x 2.087 pixels)

One of my arquives have something like 180~220mb

Using the place/smart objetct techinic I work witha a 45~60mb file

I'm working with a athlon 2.2ghz 2Gb of memory and win 7 on a CS Photoshop...

It's working for now.. only sometimes I start to think about more RAM (4Gb is used to say is a good amount for this)...

Do you know how long it takes to produce a profile on a ZX 48k Spectrum, it takes a day and a half to save the first draft! And don't get me started on loading a file

Sounds like my initial document set up, though my pc specs are a bit more and can't live without the dual monitor set up.

Files work out between 30 and 110 meg but there are a few colour profiles in there!

I know.... this is a old fellow.. but for now is going well...

And I'm sure I'm making the things the wrong way... with lots of layers to to something a layer alone should be doing..

    still learning

PS: I have 2 monitors too on this: one lcd 22" and a plasma 42" to see my HD/Blue Ray vídeo ... this computer suffer with lot's of identities HT PC, Work PC, etc....
