    Re: Yet another Me 262

Looking at the photos, I'm reasonably sure they were bare metal for what ever reason. There are tiny photos showing White 1 with what looks like a metal cowl but photos of it as abandoned with a camouflaged cowling. Probably passage of time and new parts.
The photos of White 1 that are close enough to see show no Wr.N at all but there is no telling if it was there earlier.
The camo in the photos is definitely hard edged. It's at least as hard edged as the swastika

Jester, I've sent you a BIG zip file!

You are an absolute diamond BH, thanks for the scans, they are much better than what I have access to here. I'm split now for sure over the engine cowl, in the shots you sent, they look much brighter than the orange/yellow band on the fuselage.
This would suggest all of the aircraft (with the lighter cowls) had them unpainted?
I picked up on the missing works number too from your scans, in the books I have here, I was edging towards thinking it was shine bleached out. Not so, they are clearly absent. Thanks again for taking the time to scan and send, I will be uploading an updated drawing soon.

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!!
Excellent job, now it fits the photos perfectly
I'm reasonably sure the cowls were unpainted too, for whatever reason. Also, interesting that later in it's career, White 1 had a painted, although mismatched, cowling.
I wonder why it doesn't have a Wr.N on the tail, perhaps none of these Novotny planes did? They were all painted over? Can you see the numbers in one of the photos of White 7 I sent you? It seems most planes with this camo didn't have them.

    Re: Yet another Me 262

BH, I have noticed the absence of works numbers on all of the Novotny tailed aircraft.
I do have a set of images from the "Kagero" book "262 in combat" book, which shows one aircraft with a works number. However, this aircraft does not have the common Novotny painted tail, so not from the normal pool of Novotny aircraft me thinks.
I also noticed the painted cowl on white 1, which looks like the rest of the engine nacelle was painted slightly different to other photographs of the same aircraft too.

    Have a gander at these 3 shots………..

    Thanks for the support guys.
