Did the wheel center rotate, or was it fixed?
if it rotated why not to alter the position of the color fields? Now it looks like you just altered the colors

That's REALLY nice! I think you've got it right now
Say, if you want to spur a nice BIG debate, you should post both of those at the Aerodrome Camo and Markings forum. Let those guys sort out which one is correct

    Great stuff------------> Blue Max Footage ? Blue-Max-Triplane

A great lesson today studying Kandinsky, the students did a fantastic job and very rewarding it was too. Had time to knock out a classic paint job on the Fokker. Thanks to the only WWI fan on the forum lol BH for posting the loz, it didn't take long to map it all out and pick the colours.

Got to love the wacky colours.

    Amazing job!

I wouldn't say that BH is the one and only WW1 fan, but still had no time to finish such things. It#s always a pleasure to see your WW1 profiles. I have some K&K Austrian planes on my todo list, but don't ask if I ever find time to do this.

I'd love to do some WWI types, but being that they seem to require more research using scarcer interference material than other 'modern' types, it just looks like too much bother. I'll stick to the easy stuff.

These really are turning out great, btw.

    Re: Happy New Year

Thanks Baron, I'd seen 3 of those before, but not all. All bookmarked now.

Thanks Gamarys wife , dont forget this lozenge is made up for both colours and composition with no Dr.I's ever used lozenge at all in the real world. I think I'm right in saying that?

GFR, in one way you are spot on, I had exactly the same views, but after reading a few posts over at the Drome, I figure you can argue black is white and white is red and get away with it. After that, its down to what ever is believable with in reason. At least they are not as bad as Spits or 109's where there were a bad set of wings taken off one and a new set from a totally different batch put on. Give it a go, its much like going carting for the first time, a real buzz.

    Back to the real Fokkers.

One of the first posted by BH (many many thanks).

    Re: Happy New Year

Hey Baron, maybe I'm reading between the lines of your post of the lozenge colors. Just in case you don't know, that lozenge camouflage Dr.I is completely spurious, both colors and markings, but the color and pattern match the planes made for the movie "The Blue Max" perfectly

they seem to require more research using scarcer interference material
You've got that right! Just learning what to look for and how those things were built a deviated, it's almost like learning a new language. It takes a good amount of time, years, just to know how to navigate the precious information that's out there. There are as many falsehoods and exceptions to rules as there are facts and rules! But it's very rewarding once you've gotten deep into it.

That's a nice looking Jacobs there Jester! Really nice treatment of the black color, especially the differences in metal and fabric!!! I don't know if you are aware of the argument about the colors and meaning of his personal markings. It's usually referred to as a "devil's head" and why the red skin and fire breathing. Although there was an argument about it being Boreas Greek god of the north wind and is colored differently. I prefer the devil head idea and your colors look good

Besides, it's a thin argument I think. Too bad a number of the images in the above link are missing now.

    Nice work, how many left?
