    Re: Albatros D series

Here's one you've not done, may well have already seen it but I was looking for some HP 0/400 stuff and found this little gem.

Yep, it's a Spitfire...er, Pfalz The Pfalz D.III is one beautiful plane. I'd like to do that one too if I live long enough to get around to it

    Ink, you're doing a 0/400? That'll be BIG!

    Re: Albatros D series

It was a quick glance and similar shape, all that foreign stuff looks the same to me. Sadly you're very nearly right John, I think I can just about tell the difference between a Spitfire V and a 24 but only a 50/50 chance of being correct! Don't worry about the 0/400 it's only going to be A3 size, but it will be the first one fitted with a Pegasus!

    Re: Albatros D series

I'm still stuck in a rut! I don't think I'll give up until I do art of every single Albatros known!
I'm plugging away and upper/lower views and I've about worked out the top D.V and D.Va wing. It's amazing how much about this plane hasn't been published yet! Only very general weathering on these and they're still in a kind of generic state.

It Thanks guys. It sure would be easier with some 3D to check shadows and contours! You're much better off if you make your own 3D reference. I always feel like I'm a dinosaur doing only 2D Plus I'm always thinking of those great Profile Publication illustrations I grew up on when I'm doing these. I guess I'm not embracing the future

    Re: Albatros D series

Well you may be surprised to learn I did the profile artwork for Osprey's Ki-61 and Ki-100 in 2D (TWO dee). Why? Because it's much faster. It saved me at least 50% of time. Admittedly, my previous 3D work was a great reference. But your Albatrosses are just awesome, nothing dinosaur about them. Very much at the forefront of profile illustration!

If anything is dinosaur, it's the subject. So many wings... *inset devil smiley here... really, were did the smileys go?*
