just out of a matter of intrest,
is there any proof apart from profiles of prototypes being painted red
because i know very little about russian colours, in fact from what i have read they seem to cause more arguments than RLM colours![]()

I found this one: soviet Yakovlev UT-1, trainer and sports a/c. Yes, it's a bw photo, but it is clearly visible that a red star is a same color like the line along the fuselage. Red color in old photo sometimes could be very tricky. There's also a profile.
thanks for the images Vuk,
here's how far i have got, nearly there, as i have said i ain't changing the colour on this one, i want to get on with the production versions![]()

Im always a little loathe to post about WIP's and types that I know absolutely nothing about, so I'll keep my comments to areas that appear to me that need to be addresses before moving onto punching out variations on paint schemes/models.
FWIW.
The shadow at the leading edge of the wing along the fuselage needs to be softened/toned down. The leading edge looks to need more volume, in the images accompanying this thread it looks quite thick.
Im having some trouble seeing what the relationship is between the wing and the fairing that is located behind it on the fuselage, surely they should somehow meet, does the wing underside curve up to meet it perhaps? I dunno, just seems kinda logical that it would.
Hard white panel lines?
WIP I know, so I'll stop...for now.![]()
right thats this one done,
GFR,
thats why we post WIP, wing leading edge is correct, just needs reducing the tone on colour. that bloody trailing edge is a pain, i must find a way to show the joint better, panel lines are standard black/white, they need toning down in the camouflaged version![]()

Fancy green, is that for real? It almost looks like dress uniform green
(what were they thinking???)
