    Re: SZ-1 or SU2

    I found the next:
211th ground attack division (not the regiment; therefore we might not refer to same!?) was a part of 3rd Air Army of a 3rd Belorussian front. The 3rd Belorussian front was created in 24th April 1944, operating in region southeast of Vitebsk, USSR, to Koenigsberg, Eastern Prussia (today Kaliningrad, Russian Federation).
However, the 3rd Air Army was not the part of the front from the beginning, but some time later (can't find exact date). Koenigsberg was taken in 9th April 1945, and German forces in the region were forced to surrender until 25th April.
Officially, the 3rd Belorussian front was dissolved in 15th August 1945, (based on order brought in 9th July).
    I've also couldn't find the division's emblem

    Re: SZ-1 or SU2

    I was digging a little...
According to airwar.ru (site in russian, only), it seems that, at the beginning of WW2, 211th bomber air regiment was based in Kotovsk, Odessa district, Ukraine and it CO was major F.G. Rodyakin. The regiment was part of 20th mixed air division. At the end of July 1941, 211th was based in Brovary, eastern suburb of Ukraine's capital Kiev and by the spring of 1942, the 211th was equipped with Il-2.
    Are we getting any closer?

    Re: SZ-1 or SU2

Here's the info about the 211th (in Russian):
    211 באן -> 211 ראן -> 154 דראן
I'm trying to translate it in English for you, John (sorry if there's any slip-ups):

211th Bomber Aviation Regiment--> 211th Assault Aviation Regiment->154th Guards assault Orshansky Red Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Aviation Regiment

    The regimental commanders:
Maj. Vasily G. Rodyakin (period unknown)
    Maj. George K. Starodum 06.1944 - 05.45

    In the service:
    22/06/41 - 09/15/41 (211 BBAP)
    03/19/42 - 15/07/42 (211 SHAP)
    09/08/42 - 30/10/42 (211 SHAP)
    23/05/43 - 03/18/44 (211 SHAP)
    06/04/44 - 07/09/44 (154 GSHAP)
    11/14/44 - 11/05/45 (154 GSHAP)

211 BAP was part of the 20th Mixed Air Division.

By the 06/22/1941, 211th had 18 Su-2's in service (including 6 defective), totally there were 56 combat-ready crews and 20 crews were retrained. The regiment had five squadrons.
Before the GPW, the regiment was based in Kotovsk, but from April 1941 it used the airfield near Dniester River.

6/22/1941, the 20 minutes before the start of the GPW, the regiment was alerted. During the day, the pilots made several sorties: reconnaissance and attacks on the Romanian cavalry units.

07/14/1941 was inducted into the VVS of the 6th Army of the South-Western Front. At the same time the regiment continued to be based in Kotovsk, but used the airfield at Sutiski for refueling/rearming. This fact has allowed the regiment a few days (from 14 to 17 July) to act on the Zhitomir direction for combat operations when in Su-2s they tucked some technical staff, who, together with the 249 IAP technicals, organized work at Sutiski AF. Then the regiment was moved to Ivangorod, and July 20th - in Kotovsk, back in the 20th Air Force of the 20th Mixed Air Division of Southern Front.

07/08/1941, it was transferred to the 15th Mixed Air Division of the South-Western Front.

On 29/07/1941 the regiment, which by this time was relocated to Taranditsy (near Kiev), had 18 Su-2's, 7 of which were intact.

Reformed in 211 Shap and started to use IL-2's.

During the period of 03/19/1942 - 29/05/42 was served as part of the 3rd Combat Air Group.

Since the end of May 1942 up to 08.1942 was included in the 228th SHAD.

In the period 08.1942 - 10.42 was part of the 281th SHAD.

From May 1943 until the end of the war was part of 307 shad.

During the Battle of Kursk in July 1943 carried out 327 combat sorties and lost only 3 of the IL-2s - an absolute record of the air regiments involved in the battle.

According to the Order of the Soviet Union of NCB No. 55 of 14/4/1944, the regiment was transformed into 154th GSHAP.

P.S.: Sorry I can't find any info about the badge...
