Yeaa!!!
Late batch Johannisthal D.III.
Be careful though, no lilac-mauve in D.III-s...
If it's the machine photographed at Schwerin, I believe it had
two greens camo (pale green-dark or olive green).
Excuse my enthusiasm...
PS: Leergewicht : 675 kg
Despite the dark clouds overhead, work goes on!
I started backdating the D.V to a D.III last week. Lots and BIG and little changes!!! There isn't nearly as much detail oriented info on this IMPORTANT plane. And there are way too many fuzzy gray areas and mistakes that have been published and republished! It's been hard, and will probably stay hard tracking down substantial info about many details on this one.
Here is what I've got so far-
Some of the stuff on this one aren't found on other D.IIIs but I have to start somewhere. I'll make plane specific detail changes once I have the main stuff moved or replaced. Still a LOT of work to do on this one!
FAST AND BULBOUS!

heheheh, you're right Elephant! I hadn't thought about the colors yet.
You're also right about it being a Fokker photograph I'm using.
Also I'm still using the D.V weights table, hence the 675
I'm kind of enthusiastic about this one too. I'm finding all sorts of details I don't think anyone has done correctly in drawings or profiles.![]()

Wow that's pretty Dave!
Thanks Vigilante
A small update-
No upper wing shadow yet, that really holds the hole thing together. I still need cockpit combing, the spent cartridge chute for the MG and a few other details.
The engine plumbing isn't right yet either...but it will be.
It's getting there but VERY slowly!![]()
