    Re: Grubby's first shared project

Well, it was really a series of images on their site, similar to what they have up at the moment for panel lines and dents. It used to be helicopters, now it is a Macchi. It does show the layers of the canopy well.

    Re: Grubby's first shared project

Grubby, I was curious why the Cat and DC-3 were so different from the Gannet but was reluctant to ask.

All this creation of new profiles is inspiring me. Might celebrate 2008 but taking a break from DC-4/DC-6/DC-7 profiles (have done around 80 of them) and try something different. Maybe a series of British radial engine transports - Beverley, Hastings, Hermes, Ambassador, Viking. Already have a Bristol 170.

    Grubby,

If line accuracy is your main concern have you used the path/stroke path action in Photoshop? With practice, you can get much the same line accuracy as is achievable with Illustrator, once you do (if you haven't already) you may find using illustrator redundant, that was my experience anyway.

    Hi GFR,
I do use the Stroke option in Photoshop quite a bit, with pencil and brush options depending on the desired outcome. I also modify paths within Photoshop quite a bit. I must admit, I haven't tried doing one in Photoshop from scratch. My current process has just kind of evolved. But then I am here to learn!

    Hi Supah,
I guess you'd be familiar with them then! Are they good to deal with?

    Progress report

Fuse linework is more or less complete. I need to try and confirm what the stencils say. I have a full set of civilian stencils from my own walkaround pics, but the RAN markings appear to be different, and there are more of them.
Next stage is to draw up the rotors...

    Re: Grubby's first shared project

One of my friends has been learning Illustrator for a few months and she keeps telling me it's better for profiles than Photoshop. But I agree with Blowhard. I haven't seen many good profiles done entirely in Illustrator or Corel Paint.

Ugo Crispioni is the guy in charge at AviationGraphic, very nice guy with a great attitude. I sold through DeploymentProductions earlier, this guy called "Neu" was in charge. The most unpleasant person to work with I have ever met. Also spams a lot of forums to crap.

I'm with you. I've played around with gradient mesh in Illustrator, but it aint no airbrush!
