    Re: Grubby's first shared project

    Yes, he is a Master!

The reflections weren't intended to show anything, but, now that you mention it, it looks like it is parked in the desert with hills off in the background. They are actually just squiggles. The intention was for it to be abstract, like studio lighting.

Maybe if I straighten everything out and ad some blur.....I'll keep playing.

if it flies in a more built up area darken off and lighten patches of it to simulate building reflection (best done in a different layer), i've been experimenting on this with my Lightning i just got back to (no Jest i'm not trying to outdo you, this ones been on the board for 12 months as its for a friends 21st gift).

    Re: Grubby's first shared project

    Hi Guys,

I've made further progress on the A109E. Shading of the fuse is well underway and I've worked on some of the details. I have yet to revisit the windows.

I hope you are all having a great Christmas!

    This is getting HUGE!

    Hi Guys,

My 300dpi @1:10 test is getting rather unwieldy .. the file is up to 1.8Gb when open and I am up to 150+ layers. Things are happening fairly slowly. I am really enjoying working at this resolution though so I'll keep plugging away and we'll see how it all pans out.

I have added a fair bit of detail with quite a bit to go. I figure I'm about 1/3 of the way through the whole thing.

Let me know what you think.

    Graeme.

    Re: Grubby's first shared project

    Thanks guys.

The GIFing is doing strange things to the posted images.

I've attached a 1:1 screen grab as a JPEG to give a more accurate representation of what I am seeing as I work.

    Re: Grubby's first shared project

Hi Guys, I'm still here. I hope you've all had a great Christmas and New Year!

    Fun's over. Back to work.

I've had a bit more of a play and added more detail. I'm not happy with the fuselage highlights yet. The shading is showing the shape quite well but the highlights are not.

    Re: Grubby's first shared project

I know I will probably get howled down for this (apologies in advance) but here goes, As a fellow Orstrayan I have followed this thread with interest from its inception, and I must say that I am not a fan of the way you have represented the reflections in the windows, it just looks way to stylized/illustrated for mine, the windows are constantly drawing my eye towards them, and away from the rest of the airframe, which is really distracting me from what is otherwise a very fine representation of an RAN A109.

Have you considered using toned down images of actual clouds (for what its worth, thats what I have been doing lately) or whatever, instead?
